DRY INGREDIENTS
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup sugar
WET INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons soft cheese (cream cheese, ricotta, feta)
½-1 cup (4-8 ounces) sour milk
SWEET INGREDIENTS
Here are suggestions, but you can add many sweet treats:
Fresh fruit (blueberries, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, apples)
Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg)
Nuts (walnuts, pecans)
Chocolate chips
Citrus zest
Dried fruits (cranberries, raisins, goji berries)
Pre-heat oven to 400º F.
Mix all dry ingredients in bowl.
Cut in butter and cheese til crumbly.
Add ½ cup buttermilk and mix. Mixture should remain crumbly but stick together. Add small amount of buttermilk to pull in any remaining flour but mixture should not be wet.
Add in sweet ingredients.
Flour a flat surface, place mixture on top.
Flour your hands and flatten to ¾ inch thick.
Cut to desired shapes (triangles, squares, etc.)
Grease cookie sheet and place ½ apart.
OPTIONAL: Sprinkle with sugar or spices.
Bake for 17 minutes.
